Adult Choir

Rehearsal Time: 7:30 p.m. Wednesdays in the Choir Room

Age: High School age and up

Director: Grace Chase

          The Choir is the core of our adult music ministry at FBC.  They lead worship in the 11:00 a.m. service.  Traditionally, all soloists and small groups are formed from the choir.  Under the direction of the music minister, and with the accompaniment of both organ and piano, our choir lifts praise to the Lord with at least one anthem each Sunday, and hold special worship services at Christmas, Easter and a patriotic service around our nation’s anniversary.

          Some of our members have years of training and experience singing with a choir, while others are singing with a choir for the very first time.  Auditions are not required, unless you are a soloist, and reading music is helpful but also not a prerequisite.  No matter our personal level of experience, we all have a love for music and singing in our call to worship God.  

We are proud to have members who have been with our choir for over 60 years, and yet we are always ready to welcome visitors and newcomers to our next rehearsal.

 

Praise Team

Rehearsal Time: 7:15 p.m. Mondays in the Sanctuary

Age: High School age and up

          The Praise Team leads worship in our 8:45 a.m. service.  The team consists of a rotational group of vocalists and is accompanied by piano, drums and guitar.

 

"Beginning Musicians" Choir

Rehearsal Time: 6:00 p.m. Wednesdays in Room E206

Age: Preschoolers

Director: Sheila Minor

          Children learn simple musical skills.  They play music games, learn scripture, play instruments, sing hymns and praise songs, laugh and play.  They are learning to praise God through music.

 

"Music Makers" Choir

Rehearsal Time: 6:45 p.m. Wednesdays in the Choir Room

Age: 1st - 3rd grades

Director: Karen Sheppard 

          Children learn to experience true worship and praise at this age.

          Children are beginning to read and can advance to a little higher level of musical skill.  They learn about music and how to read it, learn scripture as well as time-honored hymns and great praise songs.  Basic two-part harmony is introduced.  This choir often combines with the "Young Musicians"  to perform a musical during the year; and, they perform several times during the year in worship services.

 

"Young Musicians" Choir

Rehearsal Time: 6:45 p.m. Wednesdays in the Choir Room

Age: 4th – 6th grades

Director: Karen Sheppard

           The ultimate goal of our children's music ministry is for children to learn that we were created to praise God.

           This choir continues building on lessons learned in our earlier graded choir by teaching kids to love music, to sing praise, and to love the ministry of music.  Musical skills--including note reading, harmony vocalizing, and possible introductory conducting--are honed at this level.  This choir sings in the worship services throughout the year and performs at least one musical. 

 "Singing Saints"

Rehearsal Time: 11:30 a.m. Thursdays in the Choir Room

Age: 55+

Director: Grace Chase

           A fun choir for all congregants who may be mature in years, but remain young at heart--even those who "can't sing a note!"

          This group does get serious enought to put on two musicals per year.  The remainder of time is spent enjoying praising God in song and fellowshipping with great friends.  Open to all who are interested in praising God, and having fun while doing it.

 

Handbell Choir

Rehearsal Time: 6:30 p.m. Mondays in the Handbell Room

Age: High School and up

Director: Grace Chase

            Three-octave choir which includes both traditional bells and chimes. Participants must have knowledge in reading notes and counting.  

           Often accompanied by organ and/or piano, this group of approximately a dozen ringers play in the worship services, especially around the holidays, as a solo instrumental ensemble and also as additional instrumental support on choral anthems with the Adult Choir.  They also play at least annually at the local nursing home.
